About warmprose
For writers who can tell something is off in their draft and can't say what.
Why this exists
Readers spot machine writing fast now, and the tools sold to fix it hand you a cleaned-up paragraph without saying what was wrong with the original. We wanted the other part: name the habit that gave you away, then fix that habit.
So every check comes with the reason. "This is a contrast sentence." "This phrase inflates a small fact." Once you can see the habit, you stop writing it, and you need the tool less often. That's the honest version of this product.
What we deliberately don't do
- We don't sell a detector. Reliable machine-text detection doesn't exist, and a wrong verdict on someone's work is a real cost.
- We don't sell a promise about anyone else's detector.
- We don't keep your drafts.
Who runs it
Two people run warmprose. We built ShovelScout, a research tool for small-business owners, and we work on English prose all day. Michael J. Shen looks after the product; the other one writes and edits the pages you're reading.
